Are chosen for their cultural significance or natural beauty and could be a coral reef, mountain range, wetland, desert, architectural development, city or even a cultivated landscape and are sites of outstanding cultural or natural importance to the common heritage of humanity. World Heritage sites remain the property of the state on whose territory the site is located, but it is considered in the interest of the international community to preserve each site.
