Itinerary Details

Day 1

SAA flight from Johannesburg to Lilongwe. Scenic road transfer to Cape Mac Lodge on the lakeshore at Cape Maclear (transfer time 3hr30min). Overnight at Cape Mac Lodge.

Day 2

Short stroll along the beach to reception. After a familiarisation and safety briefing on the beach, boatride or kayak out to Island (boatride takes 45min). Overnight in Island Camp.

Day 3 - 7

Days at leisure. Relax or explore at will, making use of sea kayaks, snorkelling gear and shady hammocks. Overnight in Mumbo Island Camp.

Day 8:

Boat ride back to the mainland, followed by the road transfer to Lilongwe airport for the return flight to Johannesburg.

Note:

* Itineraries can be tailored to suit specific requests. This could include altering departure days, the duration, or changing the mix of destinations visited (e.g. Nyika National Park in northern Malawi, the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, and Nkwichi Lodge on the lakeshore in northern Mozambique). * Road transfers can be substituted by private air charters. * The Island is a PADI-registered SCUBA resort offering beginner, advanced and specialty courses, as well as gear hire and casual dives.

  • Children of all ages welcome but please remember that this is a malaria area.
