Garden Route

The Garden Route is a scenically stunning, very green, segment of the coastal belt, extending from Slangriver at Heidelberg to the Tsitsikamma forest and Storms River. The Garden Route is graced with dramatic mountains, golden beaches, pristine indigenous forests (near Wilderness, Knysna and Nature's Valley) with giant yellowood trees, beautiful lakes and meandering rivers. The famous fynbos, unique flora of the Cape, thrives in its gentle climate. This area is home to over 2000 flower and fynbos species. The coastal waters are warm, and offer superb diving, surfing and sailing opportunities. Apart from the unbeatable beauty and tranquillity, the Garden Route offers the opportunities for various special interest groups. The world's highest bungi jump (216m high) is at the Bloukrans River Bridge near Plettenberg Bay and is the ultimate adrenaline rush!

Seasons: The Garden Route has a Mediterranean climate. The best time to travel is in the spring and summer months (Sep-Apr). The rest of the year is cool and wet.
