Itinerary Details

Day 1

You will be collected this morning from a preselected list of hotels in Johannesburg between 05.00 and 06.30, and transferred by microbus to base camp. Please ensure that you confirm your pick-up time the night before. On arrival you will meet your ranger guide and the rest of the team and get together at a bush pub for a drink and lunch. After lunch you load up and depart in an open safari vehicle for the first bush camp (The order of camps visited may be switched around depending on availability). You drive through the reserve en route. The camp consists of twin bedded walk-in tents with solar lighting and separate ablution facilities. There is an outdoor eating area as well as a dinning tent for rainy days. You settle in and then head out for an afternoon walk/ drive, stopping for sundowners along the way. The night drive by spotlight brings a chance to see some nocturnal animals as you return to camp for dinner.

Day 2 - 3

You make an early start heading out on foot from camp to follow the tracks, which could lead you to an encounter with big game. Your armed ranger will interpret the movements and habits of these animals as they go about their daily struggle for survival. After your morning activity and breakfast you will depart for your next camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (Greater Kruger Park). Lunch is served under the trees and once again you set out in search for the Big 5. The two areas differ in vegetation and habitat and so attract a variety of different species of birds and game. The Klaserie River is a favourite spot for breeding herds of elephants and many water birds and much more can be seen from the veranda of your tent. Your days are spent exploring and discovering the fauna and flora of the area mostly by foot and occasionally by vehicle.
