Where the Drakensberg escarpment plunges to the ancient plains of the Lowveld, lies Edeni - the Shangaan word for 'Eden'. It nestles beneath a canopy of riverine forest on the banks of the Makhutsi River, where it winds through the 21,000 acre Edeni Private Game Reserve in close proximity to the Kruger National Park. Wildlife activities here enable guests to 'touch, taste and smell' the bushveld. The day begins with a bush walk of a few hours duration, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. Guests not only get close to Big Game but learn to identify trees and plants, taste edible fruit, follow in the footsteps of animals great and small and learn about local bush lore. Birdwatching is also excellent with some 400 species having been recorded. After the walk, brunch is served back at the Camp. In the afternoon, guests enjoy a late afternoon/night drive with a spotlight, enabling them to see nocturnal animals. This is followed by dinner. Walking trails with sleep-outs can easily be arranged.
Bush Lodge allows for a more intimate bush experience in luxurious tented accommodation that situates visitors right in the midst of the African wilderness.
