The camp serves as an entrance gate into the park and is only 13 km from Komatipoort and the national N4 highway. Five km from the camp visitors may leave their vehicles for a short walk to the river to watch the hippo lazing in the pools. Elephant and rhino are often sighted in this vicinity. There is a great hippo pool with bushman paintings located at the end of the S27. In addition, there are historical sites including Albasini's Trading Post and the Crocodile River railway bridge.
