Footsteps Camp
This is a mobile camp - you are guided on foot through the Delta, walking at a leisurely pace, covering a maximum of 6 km/3.7 miles, over 4 hours, during any activity. There are two distinct camps used on this program: the beautiful Sycamore Camp, sited under a canopy of ebony, marula and sycamore figs and overlooking the windswept swamp, dotted with palm islands, and Wild Dog Camp nestling secretively in a grove of knobthorn, sausage and mangosteen trees alongside the Okavango floodwaters. The two sites allow the safari to move with the game and, therefore, insure that you will have a truly memorable experience. Each day after breakfast, your guide will lead you in exploring this wonderland of islands that provides a seasonal haven to about forty species of large mammals, including elephant, buffalo and all the big cats. There is time for a siesta before spending the afternoon refining the knowledge that you have accumulated during the day. A late afternoon walk or mokoro ride incorporates that unique light of the setting sun and movement of life to their particular watering holes. Return to camp for a warm shower, sundowner and three-course dinner culminating around the campfire with tales of the wild. The camp is not accesible by road, but there are commercial flights available to Maun Airport for further light aircraft transport (25 minute flight) to a private airstrip.
Footsteps across the Delta is designed to ensure an authentic bush experience while never compromising on comfort. You're left with many fond memories of your fleeting glimpse of the Africa of old.
