Olivers Camp

Description:

The Tarangire area has distinct seasons. Oliver's Camp operates in Tarangire National Park for the period mid June to February. It is in this period that the concentrations of wildlife in the park reach stunning levels as migratory herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo and elephant move inside the park in search of the park's water sources, the Tarangire river and the Silale swamp, with lions, leopard and other predators following theirs steps closely. Fly camping/sleep-outs: Fly camping is a wonderful way to sleep under the stars and enjoy the pure tranquility and raw excitement of the bush. Ten foot square tents made of heavy duty mosquito mesh ensure that you are close to nature but apart from only bugs. Fly camping in the wilderness areas of Tarangire national park is a perfect compliment to a longer stay at the Base camp. The freedom of movement, the intimacy of the light camp and the thrill of being so close to nature is the pinnacle of many guests' safaris. Our fly camp is light enough to move easily and strike quickly, but still retains the everyday luxuries that characterise Oliver's Camp - hot showers, comfortable bedding and cold drinks served with gourmet food. Weddings and honeymoons.  Private, candle lit bush dinners under the African skies, private fly camping in the middle of Tarangire National Park, Champagne breakfasts, a luxury honeymoon tent away from the rest of the camp with only the sounds of the bush - Oliver's Camp offers special honeymoon packages with all that honeymooners could wish for. Private weddings can also be arranged in the middle of the bush, with Tarangire's elephants as your witnesses. To create an unforgettable honeymoon in Tanzania, combine an exclusive and intimate safari with a romantic stay at Matemwe Bungalows, enjoying Zanzibar's most beautiful beaches. Please contact us for further information.

Facilities:

The drinks and library tent offer a relaxing respite after open vehicle or on-foot adventures out in the surrounding National Park. Cold drinks, camp fires and outstanding hosts in such settings combine to make any visit an intimate learning experience for which many a visitor has returned. The staff are some of the friendliest people you will meet anywhere and always welcome you with a smile and open hearted hospitality. The focal point of the camp each evening is the stone fireplace which is close to the library, sitting and dining tents. From here the views are superb. There is no better forum for relaxed conversation and animated reflection on the day's activities, and no safari is complete without such an experience. As guides some of our best memories are from the fireside, and as guests many of yours will be too.

Accommodation:

The camp features only 8 beautifully furnished guest tents. Solid wooden furniture, beautiful cloth and gorgeous warm showers that can be taken under the Tarangire sky.
