Start: Nairobi
Scheduled flights: Nairobi Airport
Day 1: Manyara Lake Manyara National Park
Early-morning transfer from Nairobi by shuttle bus, arriving in Arusha for lunch. After a safari briefing, depart for Lake Manyara, nestled on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, and an afternoon walk in the area, with the option of stopping in the market town of Mto Wa Mbu, en route. Dinner and overnight at Kirurumu Tented Lodge, perched on the lip of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment.
Day 2: Serengeti Serengeti
After an early breakfast carve your way through the forested slopes of the Ngorongoro Highlands, en route to the Serengeti. Stop at Olduvai Gorge to visit the site where Mary and Louis Leakey first discovered the remains of Zinjanthropus Bosei, a distant ancestor of man believed to be 1.8 million years old, Australopithecus Bosei, the ‘Nutcracker Man’, a species that became extinct about 1 million years ago and fossilised footprints that date back 3,6 million years. From here the predator-rich plains of the Serengeti unfurl before you as you game drive through the park to arrive at Ikoma Camp, just before dusk. Dinner and overnight Ikoma Bush Camp or Serengeti Luxury Mobile Camp, depending on season.
Day 3: Serengeti Serengeti
A full day to explore the Serengeti, the most famous National Park in Africa. Your driver-guide will choose your route based on his extensive knowledge of the park and local conditions but the Serengeti rarely disappoints. Carry packed lunch with you so as to make the most of the day, but your trip might include a trail along the banks of the Grumeti River in search of basking lions, tracking cheetah through the Gol Kopjes or hunting leopard along the Seronera River. Dinner and overnight at Ikoma Bush Camp or Serengeti Mobile Luxury Camp, depending on season.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast depart for Ngorongoro Crater, with a final Serengeti game drive en-route, to arrive at the Lodge in time for lunch. Descend down the 2000-ft walls of the Crater, a World Heritage Site and home to nearly 25,000 animals, for a game drive. Here you have a very real
chance of spotting the big five: lion, elephant, endangered black rhino, buffalo and leopard plus countless other African mammal species. Return to the Lodge just before dusk. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, perched on the Crater Rim.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Ngorongoro Crater
A full day in Ngorongoro Crater, with picnic lunch, gives you time to explore in detail this fascinating wildlife amphitheatre. This caldera, formed by a volcano sinking, hosts a unique cross-section of eco-systems, from soda lake to savannah and is home to almost every major species of African mammal. Your presence does not threaten the wildlife making for an exhilarating proximity to the game that we rarely encounter elsewhere. Dinner and
overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Day 6: Tarangire Tarangire National Park
After breakfast leave for Tarangire National Park. This is the classic Africa of lore with shimmering acacia stands, old baobab trees, Masai herds and herds of elephant. After arrival, game drive towards Tarangire Safari Lodge, beautifully sited on a bluff over-looking the Tarangire River, arriving at lunch. An afternoon of game-viewing, exploring Tarangire National Park in our 4WD safari vehicle. In the dry-season of July-October, Tarangire National Park surpasses the Serengeti in terms of animal concentration as big herds begin to congregate around the permanent water of Tarangire River. It is not uncommon to see herds of 50+ elephant as well as every other mammal species including the rare Kudu and Oryx. The park is also noted for its prolific bird life and the occasional sighting of cheetah and the rare African Hunting Dog. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Safari Lodge.
Return to Arusha for lunch before taking the Shuttle bus to Nairobi.
Day 7: Arusha Arusha
Return to Arusha for lunch before taking the Shuttle bus to Nairobi.

Guestbook

My wife and I had a fabulous 7 days in Tanzania! It was a great holiday and organised extremely well by yourselves and Albatros.

We saw many different species of birds and animals including the so-called big 5. We were lucky enough to see a Leopard in broad day-light on 3 separate occasions - and we have seen lions hunting and a Wildebeest calf being born and running very quickly within 15 minutes or so! We have excellent video footage of thse things and a lot of animals in close-up ...very close in respect of one huge elephant! What an adventure!

We also particularly enjoyed being with and observing the people, especially the Masai and everyone was most hospitable and friendly. The scenery and terrain were stupendous and the Ngorogoro Crater was magical...a true garden of Eden. The camps were very comfortable and I must say the food was really tasty. In fact I slept so deeply and well in the tented lodges with the cries of hyaenas and other creatures close by rather better than the very luxurious surroundings of the Sopa lodge on the lip of the Ngorogoro. I have to say that the Sopa Lodge was really fantastic from the staff, food, hospitality and the scenery which surely was world class and unbeatable.

Last but not least we were so pleased with the way Albatros organised everything down to the last detail such that we did not have to worry about a thing and top class marks to David our driver and guide. We couldn't have wished for a more professional guide and driver who was very friendly, calm and extremely knowledgeable about wildlife, fauna and flora, the surroundings and culture and history of the land and its people and culture. He was great and certainly contributed very strongly to the best holiday I've ever had in my 50 years!
