| | An exhilarating walking safari that will deliver an exceptional interpretive, up close and personal African experience. Departures every Monday and Friday.
- Bush walks
- Night drives
- Campfire dinners
| Each day guests enjoy a four- to five-hour morning walk, and a short pre-sunset walk and night drive combination. Reasonable standards of fitness are a prerequisite but distances covered depend on wildlide encounters. While observing a herd of elephant from a safe distance or tracking a rhino is possible, the emphasis is on micro-systems, and time is spent observing spiders, ant lions, dung beetles and other small yet perfect natural wonders. There will also be the oportunity to birdwatch and learn about habitats and ecology as you walk through the bushveld. The walks always cover new terrain, ensuring a comprehensive interpretive experience. Nocturnal game drives reveal the primal drama of the big cats on their inexorable quest for prey.
The safety of guests is a high priority on this safari and all rangers undergo intensive specialised instruction before being allowed to lead a walking safari. The rangers begin each walking safari with a comprehensive briefing on how to behave when encountering animals on foot as, despite the fact that dangerous animals are not tracked intentionally, they are frequently sighted on these safaris.
Please Note: The walking safaris are closed each year during December, January and Febuary due to weather conditions. |

...we had a marvelous trip, everything was top drawer, five star and better in all categories...
Rosens (USA), 4 day Ngala Walking Safari, Oct 2006
...the best part of our trip. Much of the reason is the intimacy of the camp and the wonderful staff. Dinners together at one table under the stars is one of the things I remembered so fondly about my first Africa experience, and this camp brought that back to life. Also, I am a huge fan of tented camps because they keep you close to nature, with mesh sides that allow one to hear all the great night sounds. The walking safari was really quite special, and it was balanced with afternoon game drives. A leopard experience in our Land Rover was truly once in a lifetime. Finally, the people who run walking safaris tend to have more respect and appreciation for wildlife...
