| Even in ancient times, the great stone megaliths of Bongani formed a revered meeting place. The ochre paintings of bushmen are still found on the rock walls as testament of their presence and the bush still stirs and parts in deference to the regal passage of lion, rhino, elephant, leopard and zebra.
Private vehicles, buses or transfers from nearby Nelspruit airport bring guests to the foot of the dramatic mountains, from where landrovers perform the mighty ascent to the lodge, which boasts breathtaking views.
On arrival at Bongani Mountain Lodge guests are ushered through a narrow rock passage - local legend holds that renewed fertility is conferred on those who pass through this natural corridor - to the reception area. |

I just wanted to send you a quick note to say I had a positively MAGICAL time at Bongani! It was an amazing, otherworldly experience that I won't soon forget. thanks so much for helping me organize it!!
Marilisa Racco (Canada) - April 2006
The experience far exceeded our expectations - so much so that we still feel like the whole Bongani experience was a wonderful dream. We plan to go back, and also to visit some other CC Africa lodges.
We own Land Rovers that we drive off-road here in California, and we are involved in teaching people how to "tread lightly" so we were VERY impressed with the care with which the guides and trackers used a vehicle to transport tourists and help us get good photographs while at the same time taking good care of the environment.
I asked the guides a lot of questions about their training (which is amazingly in depth) and how they felt about their jobs and they had nothing but good things to say about the experience. They were not only knowledgeable, but diplomatic when dealing with tourists who thought they knew everything!
The way the lodge works with local tribes to replace villages that are in sensitive areas to other more appropriate places and to provide jobs, housing, infrastructure, etc., really came through to us during a village tour and during one of the game drives. Fabulous! Makes me proud to know there are groups out there doing economic development.
The service was excellent and the accommodations were beautiful and well-kept.
