Children of all ages welcome

Elephant PlainsGone are the days when you had to "rough it" to enjoy a safari in Africa - Elephant Plains Game Lodge offers you affordable comfort and exclusivity.
  • Game drives
  • Bush walks
  • Night drives

Elephant plains is set in the world famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve, which forms part of the 2,2 million hectare Greater Kruger National Park. Over many years, strict conservation policies and successful wildlife management have resulted in a multitude of African game species to be found in this area. You will come face to face with Africa’s famous Big Five : Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo Lion and Leopard. Rare species such as the endangered wild dogs and cheetah are also seen regularly. The area is typical African savannah with a large variety of antelope, birds and reptiles.
The highlight of your visit is the thrill of close encounters with wildlife from the safety of open 4x4 vehicles. The bushwalk after breakfast will open up a new world of smaller fauna and flora as well as the various uses of plants. During the afternoon game drive we stop at sunset for a sundowner, enjoying the sounds of awakening nocturnal nightlife. Then the search continues in the dark - with the help of powerful spotlights - revealing the mysteries of nocturnal animal behaviour.
The camp itself is an experience. Clustered amid shady trees and manicured lawns on the banks of the Manyaleti River, the spacious colonial-style rondavels with individually styled interior décor, offer spectacular views. But despite the comfort, Elephant Plains Game Lodge retains an atmosphere where camp tradition prevails - such as eating a superbly cooked dinner around a fire in the boma under the starry African sky. Breakfast and lunch is served buffet style in the open sided lapa.

Guestbook

Our family had a very memorable holiday at Elephant Plains. We would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends. The guides were competent and made every effort to answer our queries and to show us as much of the wildlife as they could. The lodge itself had a nice `close-to-nature' feel and the service staff were very helpful. Overall, I would say that all of us, especially my children, came away with a heightened appreciation of nature.

We had a fantastic stay at Elephant Plains - thank you so much for recommending it to us. I think we were particularly lucky as we were put in a Luxury room - and were only expecting to be in a Standard Room - so that made it all the more special! The staff were great there and the safari trips amazing - seeing all the big 5 on our first trip must have been the highlight of our holiday. We were so impressed by all the staff - who were extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate and thoughtful about their surroundings and the animals.

All the arrangements went perfectly smoothly as well - our trip to SA was wonderful - we can't wait to return!

We are back from South Africa after perhaps our most memorable holiday ever. Wanted to thank you for your help and advice which enabled us to be super-efficient and pack a lot in.

We had an outstanding, often hair-raising, 6-drive safari at Elephant Plains that yielded hours of leopard footage and all the Big 5 incl baby elephants and much more. Staff there were very knowledgeable and obliging. One of their customers was on his (get this) 45th safari day with them! Above all everyone agreed that Elephant Plains was great value.
