14 day Carnivore ConservationA must for anyone fascinated by Africa's big cats - this tour covers all the major large carnivore conservation projects in Namibia. You will interact with researchers and conservationists.

This tour will help you to gain insight into the problems that the large carnivores in Africa and escpecially Namibia face. You will interact with knowledgable Namibians who have dedicated their lives to ensuring the survival of these animals and hear first hand about their latest research. You will also need your walking shoes as there will be long hours of walking and tracking.

Carnivore Conservation activities  
   
Start: Windhoek
Scheduled flights: Hosea Kutako International Airport
Day 1
Pick-up at Hosea Kutako International Airport. Travel to Windhoek for check-in at guesthouse. Day spent in Windhoek. Discussion with Predator Conservation Trust (PCT) - optional. Night spend in Windhoek.
Day 2
Travel from Windhoek to Okonjima - Home of the Africat Foundation. Day spend at Okonjima. Activities include coffee at lion lapa, cheetah and leopard tracking, night hide and many more. Night spend at Okonjima.
Day 3
Day spent at Okonjima. On this day you will be introduced to the Afri-cat Foundation and their activities and objectives. Night spend at Okonjima.
Day 4
Travel from Okonjima, via Otjiwarongo, to the African Wilderness Trials. Day spent at the Rare and Endangered Specie Trust with vulture restaurant and many more. Night spent at the African Wilderness Trials or neighbouring farm (member or the Waterberg Conservancy).
Day 5
Travel to the Cheetah Conservation Fund for the day. Activities include a visit to the Anatolian Shepard dogs, cheetah feed, cheetah run, educational centre and Chewbaaka - the ambassador of the Cheetah Conservation Fund. The night will be spent at the African Wilderness Trials or neighbouring farm (member of the Waterberg Conservancy).
Day 6 Etosha
Travel to the Etosha National Park, via Otjiwarongo and Outjo. This day will consist of game drives, exploring the surroundings. After dark, the floodlit waterhole becomes the main attraction at the camp. Animals that can be spotted included elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, kudu, oryx and many more. Spend the night in camp Okaukuejo.
Day 7
Day will consist of a visit to the Ecological Institute, game drives, relaxing at the pool, shopping at the souvenirs shop, viewing game at the waterhole and many more. The night will be spent at camp Okaukuejo.
Day 8
Travel west, through the Carlton gate, to camp Hobatere. The day will consist of game drives, relaxing or searching of the radio collard lions. Spend the night at camp Hobatere.
Day 9
Travel from Hobatere to Kavita Lion Lodge - Home of the AfriLeo Foundation. The day will consist of game drives and learning more about the conservation projects conducted by AfriLeo foundation. The night will be spent at Kavita Lion Lodge.
Day 10
Day spent at Kavita Lion Lodge.
Day 11 & 12 Damaraland
Travel from Kavita Lion Lodge to Rhino Camp, in the heart of Damaraland. The following two days will consist of tracking the elusive Kaokoland lions. If you are lucky, you might just spot them. Also keep your eyes open for the desert adapted elephants. You will also be introduced to the "save the Rhino" Trust. Rhino Camp will provide us with accommodation.
Day 13 Twyfelfontein
From Rhino Camp you will travel to the camp Mowani. On the way you will visit the Twyfelfontein rock engravings, organ pipes and the Burnt Mountain. Enjoy your last night in the African Wilderness at Camp Mowani.
Day 14
Travel back to Windhoek for your flight home.
End: Windhoek
