Sanbona Tilney ManorThe first of three luxury lodges to be built on Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, Tilney Manor, once a thriving fruit farm, dates back to 1898.

The name Sanbona, a combination of the 'San' people, who occupied the area 100 years ago and 'bona' representing their vision have been combined to position this 50 000 hectare little Karoo property. The sheer expanse of the open valleys, 6500 plant species, 150 bird species, rock faces, rock art and variety of wildlife make this a destination not to be missed. During the period August-October the spring-flowers are colourful and varied.Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is situated approximately 3 hours from Cape Town between Montague and Barrydale.
There are many activities available to guests with expert guides, such as game drives, archaeological presentations, bird watching, hiking and expert information on the varied plant species. The skies are absolutely spectacular on clear nights as there is no local light pollution.

The original Tilney Post Office and prosperous trading store dating back to 1947, now a curio shop, still exists.

Comfortable lounges with fireplaces for winter nights, private verandas, romantic freestanding baths and carefully sheltered outdoor showers are just a few of the pleasures that guests can enjoy. More modern comforts include air-conditioning, satellite television, private bars and tea and coffee making facilities. The fully equipped Spa offers guests the opportunity to recover from the rigors of the outside world and restore their sense of inner harmony. This is the perfect environment for rediscovering creativity and regenerating energy. Cape Georgian decor draws on the natural colours of the surrounding stone and vegetation, with subtle touches of San culture influencing the design throughout the guest rooms and conference facility.
Family
- Children under the age of 12 years are accommodated by prior arrangement only.
- Children under the age of 3 years to share with parents at no extra charge, but are not permitted to join the game drives.
- Children aged 3 and less than 7 years old may share with their parents and will be charged 25% of the Normal rate, which includes meals, accommodation.
- Children aged 7 and less than 12 years old, either sharing a room with their parents or in separate room, will be charged 50% of the Normal rate, which includes meals, accommodation and game drives.
- Children from 12 years old will require a separate room at 100% of Normal rate.
- A maximum of two (2) children may share (mattress/cot) with their parents.
