Start: Maun
Scheduled flights: Maun International Airport, Botswana
Day 1 Boteti River
Arrive Maun International Airport (own arrangements). Penduka guide meets you on arrival. Load luggage and depart toward the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Set up the first nights camp almost on the banks of the Boteti River. Enjoy the first evening under the African Sky and around the campfire. Overnight Boteti River.
Day 2 Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Enjoy breakfast while the staff breaks down camp. Soon you arrive at the Mutswero Gate where you register and enter the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Make your way through the Passarge Valley (all these valleys are old fossil river beds now with clusters of trees and meter high grass in late winter or rainy season and short grass in late winter or Nov - Dec). Have a nice lunch under acacia trees. In Passarge Valley the chances are good for Giraffe and especially cheetah. Arrive in camp late afternoon. Time to relax and have a shower. Time permitting, you'll go on a late afternoon walk on the pan itself. The campsite at Tau is most spectacular with beautiful views (great sunsets) over the vegetated pan - normally there is a good variety of game grazing in the background. Tau (means Lion) is well known for its predators and to hear Lion at night and in the early morning is nothing unusual. Dinner and overnight Tau Pan.
Day 3 Central Kalahari Game Reserve
Early tee/coffee and full morning game drive in search of resident game. Back in camp at about 11h00 for a sumptuous brunch. Time at leisure in camp during the heat of the day. Late afternoon game drive. Back in time from the game drive to take a shower before enjoying sundowners. Overnight Tau Pan.
Day 4
Today you travel down south via a couple of vegetated pans to reach the remote Piper Pan in the early afternoon. Lunch served en route. You enjoy the peace and tranquillity around the campfire. You overnight at Piper Pan.
Day 5
Morning and afternoon game drives. Time to relax during the heat of the day. Overnight Piper Pan.
Day 6 & 7
After breakfast the staff takes down camp and soon you make your way due northeast via Lethiau Valley to reach Deception Valley in the afternoon. You spend the following two days exploring Deception Pan, and the adjoining pans. This area is home to a number of Kalahari animals such as springbok, gemsbok, red hartebeest, brown hyena and lion, which you should see on your morning and afternoon game drives. You will overnight Deception Valley.
Day 8
Option 1: A leisurely breakfast and early morning, break down camp and then drive north along the cut line to Kuke corner bidding the Central Kalahari Game Reserve good bye. Arrive back in Maun in time for your outbound flight. End of your safari

Optional 2 Day extension: A leisurely breakfast early morning, break down camp and then we will drive north along the cut line to Kuke corner bidding the Central Kalahari Game Reserve good bye. Arrive at Deception Valley Lodge in time for lunch. You will be shown to your luxurious chalets and have the pleasure of water on tap. In the afternoon we will have a walk with the Bushmen. They will demonstrate their survival techniques and way of life in the inhospitable land of the Kalahari. Plenty of time to take a bath or shower with view of the bush before dinner.
