Approximately 20 km North East of the main Kruger rest camp at Skukuza, the concession shares a 15km boundary with Mala Mala in the Sabi Sands private reserve with the big game moving freely between the two reserves. This environmentally sensitive, big five game area is ideal for walking safaris offering a great diversity of fauna and flora.

Approximate flying time from JIA to KMI is 55 minutes. From KMI you may book either a chauffeured land transfer to Rhino Post Safari Lodge (and on to Rhino Post) or hire a car, enabling you to self-drive directly to Rhino Post. Our travel consultants will gladly assist you with these flight reservations, charter booking, road transfers, car hire and any additional requirements you may have.
Day 1 & 2
Arrival and time to settle in to the luxury 16 bed lodge set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi Riverbed. Guests are welcome to relax around the pool and watch the animals at the waterhole. After high tea depart on a game drive, winding down with sundowners, while watching an African sunset. Look out for the nightlife on the game drive back to camp, end the day with a sumptuous dinner while listening to the sounds of the bush. Day 2 will start with an early bush walk after coffee and rusks. On this day you may walk to the next camp.
Day 3 & 4
On arrival at plains camp you may enjoy a leisurely brunch and time to relax around the pool overlooking the Timbitene plain & waterhole. Keeping an eye on the waterhole you may well spot a breeding herd of elephants coming down to drink.
After high tea, a walk or a game drive in the late afternoon, winding down with sundowners, while watching an African sunset. Look out for the night-life on the game drive back to camp. Enjoy drinks & a sumptuous dinner while the night sounds of the bush envelop the camp. The itinerary for day 3 is much the same as day 2, although one bush experience is exceptionally different form the next. Explore a different area of the bush, following rhino trails and elephant paths.
Day 5 & 6 - Sleep Out
Sleep Out facilitiesSleep Out accommodationThis night may be spent on a 'sleep-out' on elevated wooden platforms (weather permitting and needs to be pre-booked). A must for a true wilderness experience!

After another early start guests will set off following rhino trails and elephant paths. Brunch will be served upon their return to camp after which they will have the opportunity to relax. After high tea is served the guests will depart Plains Camp on the afternoon walk to the Sleep Outs, the elevated wooden platforms (weather permitting).

This is the only place in the Kruger National Park offering this unusual accommodation. Guests will leave Plains Camp carrying a lightweight rucksack containing a change of clothes, a pillowcase, a sheet inner for the sleeping bag and refreshments.
After hanging up mosquito nets, fly sheets (only if necessary) and preparing beds (yes! we do encourage our guests to be included in every aspect of this unique interactive experience of the bush) sundowners can be enjoyed on the platforms that also overlook a waterhole.

While dinner is being prepared over the open fire, guests will enjoy sounds and senses, heightened as they share the wilderness at night, while being safely guarded by our observant guides. The rumble of the elephant passing by or the roar of the lion at the nearby waterhole, are the only noises that might disturb guests in this peaceful wilderness.

Guestbook

My brother and I got back from Africa today, and I just wanted to thank you for everything.
Everything was scheduled to perfection, and the experience is something I'll never forget. I will absolutely recommend you and this safari
to everyone I know who may be interested. The accomodation was much nicer than I expected, the food was amazing throughout, and everyone was
incredibly nice. The best part of the trip was Bernard, our guide at Plains and Sleepout camps. It wasn't merely that he knew an incredible amount about the bush, but he was such a great guy!
