| | The Olifants River in the Kruger is home to crocodile, hippo and many bird species. The call of the African fish eagle is almost synonymous with this trail and the rare Pel's fishing owl may be seen.
| The trail camp for the Olifants Trail is situated on the southern bank of the Olifants River, west of the Olifants/Letaba confluence. It offers a magnificent view of a beautiful stretch of this perennial river which ultimately flows through Mozambique and into the sea. The landscape varies from riverine bush and gorges to the foothills of the Lebombos and supports a variety of wildlife. Sightings of lion, buffalo and elephant are common.
Kruger's wilderness trails enable adventurous visitors to make close personal contact with nature by traversing large areas of unspoilt wilderness on foot, under the guidance of armed and experienced trail rangers. Groups are limited to eight persons and the duration is three nights and four days.
A daily conservation levy is payable (included in the price range indicated). Wild Card members do not pay conservation fees provided that Proof of Identity and Wild Card are presented on arrival.
Note: We charge a 10% Handling Fee on all Trail bookings. Wilderness Trails are not available between 15 December and 15 January. |
