The surrounding vegetation is predominantly Mopane, but the Letaba river is lined with large trees, including the very large Baobab, after which Shimuwini was named. There are 20km of road for the exclusive use of residents to the camp.

A daily conservation levy is payable (included in the price range indicated). Wild Card members do not pay conservation fees provided that Proof of Identity and Wild Card are presented on arrival.

| Accommodation
There are 15 family cottages spread out in a long, well-spaced line along the Shimuwini Dam. with lovely views over the water, and a chance of seeing game on the far bank, and waterbirds, crocodiles as well as hippo in the dam. There are 3 accommodation options: 9 two-bedroom cottages Both bedrooms have ceiling fans, one has 3 single beds, and the other 2 single beds. One bedroom has a bathroom en suite (bath, toilet and washbasin). There is a separate toilet as well as a separate shower and washbasin. The kitchen has a gas stove (with oven), refrigerator, sink, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. The diningroom is on an open verandah. 5 one-bedroom cottages The bedroom has 2 single beds and a ceiling fan. The living room has 2 lounge chairs, and a ceiling fan. The bathroom has a bath, toilet and washbasin and interleading doors to the bedroom and livingroom. The kitchen/diningroom is an open verandah and has a two-plate gas stove (without oven), sink, refrigerator, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. 1 three-bedroom cottage There are two single beds and a ceiling fan as well as an en suite bathroom with bath and toilet in each bedroom. There is an outside shower, for a private shower under the stars. The living room has 2 lounge chairs, and a ceiling fan. The bathroom has a bath, toilet and washbasin and interleading doors to the bedroom and livingroom. The kitchen inside, has an oven and stove, outside diningroom is on a the large, partly enclosed verandah, with sink, refrigerator, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
