| This unique setting offers a world of remarkable opportunities for safari adventurers. In addition to big game viewing in the Masai Mara Reserve, visitors are offered a rare glimpse of the day-to-day lives of the Maasai people in the adjacent Maasai village or 'engang'. No other lodge in the Mara offers such a close cultural experience with the Maasai.
Enjoy a quiet evening drink, cozily seated on your verandah, watching the hippo frolicking just before heading out for their nightly grazing. Our chefs will delight you with exquisite cuisine, which can be served al fresco perched on the Siria escarpment overlooking the Mara plains or as a picnic deep in the bush. Or you can sink into the comfortable sitting area with some books from the camp's library lounge, and then enjoy a delicious dinner in the dining room overlooking our private section of the Mara River. You are entirely at your own pace at Olonana – nothing is pre-scheduled. Meals, game drives and all other activities operate according to the guests' wishes and the opportunities presented by the changing patterns of animal activity. Olonana's quiet elegance is enhanced by highly personalized service, our management team customizing every detail so you can create your own African memories. |

Footprint Olonana has introduced an innovative wetland system to cleanse its wastewater before returning it to the natural environment. Sanctuary Lodges commissioned Dee Raymer, an expert in wetlands technology, to install a ‘constructed wetland’ to purify all the wastewater from Olonana’s tents, kitchens, staff quarters, and management housing. Through a series 3 of carefully constructed ponds, this system purifies the water naturally, while also creating a habitat for a diversity of birds and other species. Olonana is one of only two hotels in Kenya that has a fully operational constructed wetland. Simply put, the water passes through a succession of connected ponds, and along the way, microbes, plants, and other life forms use the pollutants in the water as nutrients, utilizing them and eventually purifying the water. Olonana’s wetland has a dedicated wetlands caretaker whose job is to ensure that it continues to operate effectively. We hope that Olonana’s system will inspire many other lodges in Kenya to create similar systems for their waste. | Rate includes . All meals .
