Children 10yrs and older welcome

Kaingo CampOverlooking the Luangwa river in one of the most prime areas of the South Luangwa National Park, Kaingo offers guests a relaxed, personal and friendly atmosphere with fantastic game-viewing.
  • Game drives
  • Bush walks
  • Night drives
  • Bird watching

Built and run by Derek Shenton, a son of Barry Shenton, former ranger in Luangwa and warden of Kafue National Park, Kaingo has many attributes from the Shenton family ranging from the camps stylish design and practical layout to the homemade soaps, textiles, and farm produce.

Game-drives and walks from Kaingo provide exciting photographic opportunities for its guests. The varied terrain around the camp includes the spectacular Fish Eagle lagoon, one of the largest ebony forests in the Park, Lion Plain and the Mwamba River.

The area is ideal walking country (under the escort of an armed scout and guide) and the carefully planned low impact roads provide excellent coverage of this game-rich terrain. Two frequently viewed lion prides live in the area and an average of 9 out of 10 visitors will see leopard.
There are both elephant and hippo hides close to camp, which afford visitors close-ups of these great mammals.
Stork fishing parties, Carmine bee-eater colonies and Red-billed quelea in their thousands are among the birding highlights of the area.

Kaingo is open each dry-season from May to October.
