In addition, Tswalu has a walk in wine cellar stocked with South African wines, a mezzanine library with TV/satellite, Dimpho (gift shop) (a gift shop) and Jwa Bana (children's room). | Accommodation Each of the nine air conditioned legaes (suites) are built of local stone, rich red clay and typical Kalahari thatch. Accommodation is for twenty two guests sharing in seven double legaes (suites) and two two-bedroom family legaes (suites). Comprising spacious bedroom, en-suite bathroom, both inside and outside walk in showers with views across the plains, large lounge with open fire place, direct dial telephone, safe, mini bar and larder. A private sundeck overlooks a waterhole. | Family Unlike many other luxury African game reserves, Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is a place where children are gladly welcomed. With a range of fun activities and accommodation especially suited to kids, this is a place where your children will feel stimulated, happy and above all, at home.
A visit to Twalu is one that is highly educational, but without the boredom of sitting in a stuffy classroom. While on game drives and bush walks, children will be able to learn fascinating lessons about wildlife, birdlife and vegetation from our knowledgeable rangers. However, we know that mom and dad are bound to need some solitude during long and languid Tswalu afternoons, so to keep the tiny tots occupied, children will have access to a wealth of colouring-in books and crayons.
Because Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is in a malaria-free area, there is no need to worry about preventative malaria medication for yourself or your little ones.
Children aged 12 and under sharing with adults stay free of charge. Children aged 12 and under not sharing with adults will be accommodated at 50% of the rack rate. Motse also houses a children's room called Jwa Bana and babysitting services are available. Children flying on the Anglo scheduled flight will only pay 50% of the seat rate. | ecoQuest Community The Tswalu community consists of about 140 staff and their families. The levels of illiteracy were incredibly high at Tswalu's inception and Tswalu has thus focused on this and a number of other issues which can have a direct influence on the upliftment of the resident community. The ABET literacy programme which is run at Tswalu with a full time teacher, is ensuring that all staff have access to learning opportunities and the project is aiming for 100% literacy among staff. Tswalu operates a primary health care clinic on the property for all Tswalu residents, as well as any other members of the neighbouring farms. The clinic is run by a professional nurse who offers various health care programmes. The WARMTH programme (War against Malnutrition, Tuberculosis and Hunger) aims to educate residents on the benefits of healthy eating and offers various immune system and nutritional supplements. An extensive HIV/AIDS awareness and voluntary testing programme is also run through the clinic. Tswalu also operates a pre-school for children on the property. These kids benefit from a range of early learning programmes. | Rate includes · Luxury full board accommodation · Two daily game drives in open safari vehicles · Walking safaris led by experienced field guides and trackers · All drinks · Local telephone calls · Laundry and valet services · Baby sitting service | Rate excludes · Transfers to and from Tswalu · International telephone calls · Tswalu gift shop purchases · Private safari vehicle hire with personal field guide and tracker · Horse riding accompanied by a qualified riding guide · Transfer to and from Sishen Golf Course plus green fees | Access Scheduled flights: - ±90 minutes: Johannesburg to Upington(SA Link) - ±85 minutes: Johannesburg to Kimberly(SA Express)
