| Facilities There is plenty to do in the lodge when not out in the bush, with a large swimming pool, a hide & waterhole within the grounds, a panoramic viewing deck on top of one of the sandstone kopjes, seats on the banks of the Limpopo and our conservation centre to visit. Wholesome meals are served in a variety of indoor and al fresco locations throughout the lodge's extensive grounds. | Accommodation Tuli Safari Lodge provides an idyllic base from which to explore the surrounding area, with its dramatic landscape, diverse flora & fauna and fascinating history. With an established team of friendly staff and just 8 individually designed suites, we can offer our guests a personalised, relaxed and exciting stay.
All our suites have double or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms with bath and/or shower, indoor and outdoor sitting areas, air conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities. We have two grades of suites - which we call 4 and 5 "ele" - with our "5 ele" suites being the more luxurious, spacious and private.
We run a rustic tented bush camp, Nokalodi, offering guests an under-canvas experience or providing a base for those who prefer to self-cater. Hides: Time can be spent at several hides situated at key sites/waterholes with your guide as part of a game activity or alone with just your binoculars, some drinks and snacks for company. There is also the option of sleeping out at the hides overnight. Horse rides: Riding safaris can be arranged through Limpopo Valley Horse Trails. Community visit: A visit to local village Motlabaneng includes a visit to the school, a wine-tasting experience with a difference (at the lala-palm 'distillery'), a chance to see traditional basket-weaving in action and an opportunity to see some of our community projects. Confluence visit: A day trip to the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo rivers, a unique and scenic spot where Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe meet. A picnic lunch is included. Mapungubwe: A visit to this World Heritage Site provides a fascinating insight into the powerful African kingdom that flourished in the area from around 1200 to 1270AD. The national park also boasts dramatic scenery and a rich variety of wildlife. This trip combines well with a visit to the Venetia Wild Dog Project, and if so would involve a night away from Tuli. Venetia Wild Dog Project: Enjoy the thrill of participating in this research project and using radio tracking to locate and follow the wild dog pack at the Venetia-Limpopo Nature Reserve. This trip combines well with a visit to Mapungubwe, is subject to availability and usually involves a night away from Tuli, so needs to be planned in advance. Conservation/training: There are opportunities to participate in our conservation programmes. We also offer ranger training courses for guests. Please enquire for more information. | Access The Tuli area is an ideal stop-off point en route to the Kalahari, Delta, Chobe & beyond, or forms a natural extension to a Limpopo/Waterberg/Northern Kruger trip. Tuli can be reached by excellent tar road from Johannesburg in approximately 5 hours. You can leave your car at the Pont Drift border post, where our ranger will collect you, or you can arrange to drive directly to the lodge. When the Limpopo River is flowing you will need to leave your car at the border post, and cross the river by cable car (P20 pp one way). You can also access the lodge via the Platjan or Martins Drift border posts, and by road from Gaborone (approx 6 hours) or Francistown (approx 4 hours). Please note that the border post is open from 08.00 to 16.00. Alternatively, SA Airlink operates several flights a day from OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg to Polokwane (Pietersberg). You can then hire a car and drive to the lodge (approx 2 hours) or we can arrange for a transfer. We can also arrange road transfers or charter flights from most other locations. | Safari category:

I was picked up at the airport and the travel to the frontier went smoothly and I was picked up there by one of the rangers. About the Tuli Safari Lodge it went very well. I saw a large variety of animals, although I was sad not to see any lions or cheetahs. However the animals we saw (elepphants, girafes, zebras, hienas, crocodiles) were numerous (not to speak about the commoner experiences. The Lodge treated us well and took us to dinner in different sites of the property (one of them in the bushes).
...the place is beautiful and I enjoyed very much the experience, returning home satisfied.
