De Hoop travel info The De Hoop Nature Reserve, the jewel of the Western Cape, is situated 50 km east of Bredasdorp. The reserve is about 260km by road from Cape Town and can be reached via either Bredasdorp or Swellendam on the Bredasdorp/Malgas Road. The last 50km of either route are along gravel roads via Ouplaas.
Lekkerwater is situated within De Hoop Nature Reserve on the Southern Cape coast, approximately 70km east of Bredasdorp. It is about 280 km by road from Cape Town (3 hrs) and can be reached via Bredasdorp or Swellendam. The house is located in an isolated area on the rugged coastline of the reserve.
The facility is fully furnished and well appointed. As there is no electricity, gas geysers, refrigerators, a deep freeze and gas stoves are supplied. During the evening paraffin lamps and candles contribute to the ambience. Sufficient braaiwood is supplied. Please use the demarcated braaiplaces only. A private domestic worker can be arranged through the Reserve Office. For emergencies a radiotelephone connects Lekkerwater to De Hoop headquarters and the officer on duty. Cellular phones do not work here.
