Bush

Forest

From the lush indigenous forest of the Garden route in South Africa, to the primate-packed rainforests of Madagascar and Uganda, forests are a naturalists haven for birds, butterflies and beasts of all sizes.

Mountain

From Table Mountain, to the Drakensberg, the Waterberg Plaetau, the Rift Valley, Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro and the Ruwenzoris, Africa's mountain ranges are home to a staggering diversity of remarkable fauna and flora.

Wetland

Many of Africa's wetlands are declared RAMSAR sites - wetlands of international importance - due to the abundance and variety of birdlife as well as plant and animal species. The Okavango Delta is the most well known of these.

Lakes attract wildlife - masses of flamingoes gather at Kenya's Lake Nakuru, and the world's largest population of crocodiles wait on the shores of Lake Turkana. Tanzania's Lake Manyara is a celebrated stomping ground for large elepant and buffalo herds.
