Kariba travel info There is not much to do at the town itself except take in the magnificent view over the lake, bargain with the ladies selling crochet work, who individually whisper their prices to you so that their competitors are kept in the dark, or stock up on groceries at the small supermarket. Otherwise, your best bet is to head for the resorts, take in a cruise or flight over the lake or try your luck a the casino at the Caribbean Bay complex. Another place to visit is the church of St. Barbara, a curved structure reminiscent of the dam's shape, dedicated to those who built the wall, many of whom where Italian, and particularly those who died during its construction. On your way down the old elephant track on which the tarred road was built, look out for the elephant that still wander over the hills in search of succulent snacks, especially just before the rains.
Further down on the water is Kariba's harbour of Andorra, the terminus for the Sea lion ferry, where luxury cruisers rub hulls with workmanlike fishing vessels.
