Mount Kenya Mount Kenya, an extinct volcano at 5199m, is the second highest peak in Africa, and one of the few areas of altitude near the equator with permanent glaciers. It is also here that the Kikuyu believe their God ngai dwells. Kilimanjaro Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa at 19,340ft. This is a mountain climber's paradise - a challenging trek that includes five distinct ecological zones.
