Mozambique Transfrontier Peace Park travel info South Africa's second transfrontier park, the Gaza-Kruger-Gonarezhou (GKG) transfrontier park, was formally established between SA, Mozambique and Zimbabwe in November 2000. It consists of Coutada 16 in Mozambique, South Africa's Kruger National Park and the Gonarhezou National Park in Zimbabawe which all form the core of a broader GKG transfrontier conservation area. The bigger area will consist of national parks, private game reserves, hunting concession areas and community-managed natural resource areas. The core of the park consists of an area of 35000kmē while the extended park, including the conservation area around the park, will be 99800kmē. (Larger than Portugal) Together they will form one of the world's biggest protected areas. The new park would consist of lowland plains, plateaus with interspersed hills, the Lebombo mountains and major rivers like the Limpopo, Olifants and Komati. Vegetation is made up of Mopane woodland, mixed bushveld and riverine woodland.
