Overberg and Boland travel info Overberg is the area south-east of Cape Town with indigenous flora, rich birdlife, seaside resorts with villages, fruit farms, high-peaked mountains and passes. The Overberg, which means literally "over the mountains and into a wonderful world", offers a wide variety of experiences. From the rocky cliffs of the whale coast where whale watching from the land is one of the best areas the world can offer, alternated by some of the finest unspoilt glittering white beaches, to the exquisite world of fynbos, the richest floral kingdom in the world. From the southern-most point of Africa at Cape Agulhas, where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet, through rolling wheat fields and farmlands to the magnificent mountains, the Overberg also offers winelands and orchards, a tranquil lifestyle, a rich historical heritage and a warm welcome from people who still have the time to enjoy visitors.
The Boland is a magnificently mountainous rural and wine-producing area of the Western Cape. Hikes through the nature reserves will have you marvelling at the unique Fynbos. Enjoy the thrill of tearing down hillsides on a mountain bike, relaxing next to a river catching trout, the exhilaration of a hot-air balloon ride over Paarl Mountain or even admiring the sunset on horseback.
