Tswalu Game Reserve travel info Tswalu is situated in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, at the foot of the Korannaberg Mountains, some 300 kilometres north west of Kimberley. The coordinates are 27º 13" 30' South and 22º 28" 40' East. The nearest town is Kuruman, famous as the Mission from which Dr. Livingstone set off into what was then darkest Africa. Close to the border with Botswana, Tswalu's African village doors open onto the splendour and serenity of the awesome Kalahari. Tswalu is accessible by plane and has a CAA licenced tar runway (1400 metres) able to accommodate corporate jets such as Gulf Stream, Falcon, BA146, etc. Shuttle flights from Johannesburg operate on Wednesays, Fridays and Sundays. Alternatively, for those who wish to drive and explore the outback en route, cars may be hired from all major cities in South Afric Guests are received at either of Tswalu's two lodges. The large main lodge "Motse" is near the centre of the reserve.Tarkuni, the other lodge (exclusive lodge), is set powerfully amid two rolling mountain ranges in its own private area of Tswalu Kalahari Reserve. The vast open spaces dotted with picturesque thorn trees so characteristic of the Kalahari and surrounds create an atmosphere of freedom and being alone in the wilderness.
Seasons The reserve can be visited year round. The summer rain occurs from November to April, with March being the wettest month. Dry months are from June to September, with August being the driest month. Maximum temperature for the summer averages at 35ºC (January) and maximum temperature during winter 21ºC (July).
