National Parks

Africa's conservation areas exceed 230 million hectares. Its National Parks, reserves and private concessions within these areas include rainforests, deserts, marine reserves and savannah plains and contain a staggering diversity of lifeforms.
World Heritage Sites

Africa currently has 30 designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites - some of which are major natural attractions. Ramsar sites - wetlands of international importance - are also listed.
Private Reserves

Wildlife reserves travel info

Private concessions are not included under Private Reserves as the land is not privately-owned, but state-owned. Many African countries, including for example Botswana and Zambia, give out concessions to lodge owners and managers for a certain number of years.
