ecoQuest travel info ecoQuest criteria:
In considering a trip or establishment for the ecoQuest label our Product Manager, under the guidance of our Director: Environmental Ethics and Quality Assurance, screens the product according to the following criteria, 1 to 4 of which require compulsory compliance, and further compliance with one or more of 5, 6 and 7 potentially qualifies it for ecoQuest status.
1. experience the authentic Africa, its wildlife and wilderness
2. come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the continent’s unique natural and cultural environment
3. support low impact, ecologically sensitive facilities and services
4. not be promoting the luring, taming or killing of wildlife for entertainment
5. contribute to meaningful environmental research or nature conservation
6. contribute to sustainable economic and community development
7. enjoy hosts who practice local citizen empowerment.
